A new forest between Rotterdam and Dordrecht

Together with Staatsbosbeheer and Stichting Nationale Boomfeestdag we realized the planting in 2015. In total 180 hectares of forest was planted, of which 2 hectares were funded by Trees for All.

Forests are important for nature and human beings. They offer us relaxation, rest and fresh air. Therefore a new forest, the Waalbos, was created in the shadow of Rotterdam. The Waalbos is a varied nature area with forests, waterbodies with reed-banks and open pasture lands. Trees for All planted 2 hectares of new forests in this area. Because of this diversity is has a high ecological value.

Where did we plant?

You can find het Waalbos between Ridderkerk and Heerjansdam. It is a relatively young forest with many young trees. The nature area is accessible for everyone and very appealing to go for a nice stroll or bike ride.

Our partners

The development of het Waalbos is a collaboration between the province of Zuid-Holland, the municipality of Ridderkerk and Staatsbosbeheer. Our project has been realized as part of the Nationale Bossenfonds, an initiative of Trees for All, Staatsbosbeheer and Nationale Boomfeestdag.

The Waalbos is attractive to hikers and there is a cycling path that is parts of several routes throughout the region.
