Ireland (Galway)

Together with Sylva Nova, we are transforming more than 4 hectares of farmland into a new natural habitat in Galway, Ireland.

Status: Current project

From agricultural land to a thriving forest

In Ireland, we are enabling the reforestation of more than 4 hectares of former agricultural land. This is a huge improvement for the local area, where the landscape is dominated by monotonous spruce forests and little native wildlife or biodiversity can be found.

Together with our partner Sylva Nova, we are transforming this piece of land into a true biodiversity hotspot. We are planting tree and shrub species that are native to the area, such as common oak, birch, hazel, hawthorn and rowan. This mix creates a valuable habitat providing food and shelter for plants, fungi, insects, mammals and birds.

The trees will also improve water management and air quality, capture CO2 and create a comfortable microclimate. In this way, we are transforming the former farmland into a valuable and flourishing new natural landscape!

An impression of the planting site and the first young trees planted during the winter of 2025–2026. It is still almost impossible to imagine that, one day, these tiny saplings will grow into trees and shrubs several metres tall.
