‘t Knapperslag

Together with Stichting Buur maakt Natuur we created new nature of former agricultural land in the Wehlse Broeklanden.

New nature in Doetinchem

Together with Stichting Buur maakt Natuur we planted a new forest in the Wehlse Broeklanden. On a very cold day in 2018 the last trees were planted.

Why is this project needed?

Historically the Wehlse Broeklanden, located between Doetinchem and Wehl, were used as pasture and production forest. In recent years the area has decreased in its size. Together with Stichting Buur maakt Natuur we realised a nature area on one of the former fields. By planting at total of 1 hectare in elongated patches the orginial character of the Wehlse Broeklanden was maintained. Through the creation of several structures for bats and swallows the foundation further increased the value for biodiversity.

This Trees for All project contributes to realizing multiple Sustainable Development Goals

Where did we plant?

The project area, called ’t Knapperslag, is 3,7 hectares large and is located on walking distance from the city of Doetinchem. A beautiful area for an outing!
