Plant a tree with your name
in our Anniversary Forest!

Hooray, Trees for All is 25 years old! And that’s cause for celebration. To mark our anniversary, you can plant trees in your name throughout the month of October in our Anniversary Forest, in the Netherlands. You can plant a tree with your own name or with someone else’s. By doing so, you’ll be giving the world (and Trees for All) the best gift of all!

How to plant a tree in the Anniversary Forest

In the Anniversary Forest, you can plant a tree with your own name or someone else’s name. Simply online – as many as you want! Our birthday wish is to plant a total of 25,000 trees: 1,000 trees for every year we’ve been around.

Step 1

Decide who you want to plant a tree for in the Anniversary Forest. Donations can be made from 1 to 31 October 2024.

Step 2

Go to link and start your donation.

Step 3

All the trees will be planted straight away in the digital Anniversary Forest, where you can see the tree(s) that you’ve donated.

Step 4

On 30 November 2024, we’ll plant the first trees in the Anniversary Forest. If you donate at least 5 trees, you can come and help with the planting.

I’d like to come to the tree planting day

Trees for… Jennifer Hoffman

In the digital Anniversary Forest, you’ll see Celebrity Trees growing as well. Did you spot the tree of our ambassador, the actress Jennifer Hoffman, for example? And the Anniversary Forest is home to more Trees of Dutch Celebrities, such as actor Egbert-Jan Weeber, Princess Margarita and the Mayor of Utrecht, Sharon Dijksma. Follow their green example and make the forest grow even bigger!

Q&A

What makes this donation different to my other donation(s)?

In our anniversary month, you can personalise your tree with a name of your choice. Your contribution to a forested future has never been so personal! The named trees will also be displayed in our digital Anniversary Forest. If you donate 5 or more trees, you’ll get the opportunity to plant your own tree in our physical Anniversary Forest. At the beginning of November we’ll send you an invitation for the tree planting day.

What makes this donation extra special is that this month your contribution is spent entirely in the Netherlands. Normally speaking, your donation is split 50/50 between the Netherlands and a location abroad, as we want to make an impact worldwide. But because we’re celebrating our anniversary by planting a forest in the Netherlands, we’d like to use all the donations for that purpose on this occasion. So together, we can create the biggest possible Anniversary Forest!

I don’t want my personal details to be visible in the digital forest. What exactly is displayed?

In the digital forest, the name tags display first names (or the name you filled in under ‘first name’). When you click on a tree, you get to see the tree number and the name of the person who planted the tree. When you make your donation, you can indicate whether or not you want your last name to be displayed. Each tree in the forest has a unique number, and you can find your tree by name or number through the search function.

Will my name appear on a tree in the physical forest?

No, we won’t literally carve your name in the trunk of the tree. At the tree planting day, however, you can hang a name tag in the tree that you plant. Fun for your photos or vlog! After the planting day, we’ll remove the tags, in order to prevent pollution. But your contribution will be immortalised in another way, as we’ll plant the precise number of trees donated to the Anniversary Forest. And in our digital forest, you’ll be able to find your tree by name or tree number through the search function. The digital forest will remain accessible after the campaign as well, and we’ll update you on the growth of the Anniversary Forest by e-mail.

Unfortunately, it won’t be possible to follow the specific growth of individual trees in the physical Anniversary Forest, as the trees you donate are part of a bigger forest area. Not every tree we plant will grow to become a big mature tree. To create a forest, you start off by planting more trees than will eventually survive. There’s a reason for this. By planting more in the beginning, we rapidly create a forest.

How can I plant a tree in someone else’s name?

That’s easy to do through our website, by filling in the name of the recipient on the form. As proof of the trees we plant on your behalf, we’ll send you a digital certificate, to which you can also add a personal message. If you’d like to send the certificate straight on to the recipient, just fill in his or her e-mail address. Or else send the certificate to yourself, print it out (on recycled paper, of course) and give it to the recipient. A great gift that’s also sustainable!

If I plant several trees, can I give each tree a different name?

Yes, that’s possible! Then you’ll receive a separate certificate for each tree. You can also send the certificates straight on to the recipients.

Is it also possible to plant several trees in the name of just one person?

Yes, you can plant several trees in one name! And did you know that if you donate 5 or more trees, you’ll receive an invitation to the tree planting day on 30 November? You can then bring along another person to help plant your trees.

My named tree(s) are planted in the digital Anniversary Forest, but are they planted physically as well?

Yes indeed! All the trees planted in the digital forest will be planted for real in a forest in the Netherlands at the end of 2024. You can come and help at a special tree planting day on 30 November. We’ll keep you updated by e-mail on how the forest is developing.

Why hasn’t the location of the Anniversary Forest been revealed yet?

Our official anniversary is at the beginning of November! We think it would be nice to mark that special day by making a festive (digital) announcement of the location of the Anniversary Forest.

Can I visit the Anniversary Forest in person?

Yes, you can. At the end of November, the first trees will go into the ground. And the whole Anniversary Forest will be planted at the end of this year. After that, you can go and visit the forest. Do bear in mind that the saplings are still very small in the initial years, so you’ll have to be patient for a while before it looks like a real forest. In order to protect the nature reserve and the young trees, we request you not to enter the plot and to stay on the paths around it.

It’s important to note that the trees you donate are part of a bigger forest area. Not every tree we plant will grow to become a big mature tree. When planting a new forest, we plant more trees than will eventually survive. This is partly due to natural processes, whereby trees compete for space and light. Planting more trees in the beginning enables us to create a forest ecosystem and healthy growing climate more rapidly. It also increases the chances of a forest where many different species of tree survive, which then reinforce and complement one another. So your tree will ensure that the forest can develop in a natural way.

I’ve planted named trees in the Anniversary Forest. How many people can I bring along to the tree planting day(s)?

Thank you for your contribution! If you’ve planted 5 or more trees, then you’re welcome to bring along one friend, family member or colleague to help plant your trees. So the invitation is for 2 people in total. Children are also welcome! We look forward to seeing you at this extra festive planting day!

Tip! If you’d like to come along with more than 2 people, then get others from your group to donate 5 trees as well. For every 5 trees, you can order 2 tickets.

When is the Anniversary Forest tree planting day?

The tree planting day will take place on Saturday 30 November.

When will I receive an invitation to the tree planting day?

In the first week of November, you’ll receive an invitation by e-mail. So keep an eye on your mailbox! The tree planting day itself will take place on Saturday 30 November. Of course, we want to give as many people as possible the chance to take part in this special day, but the number of places is limited. So make sure you register in good time, because once tickets have gone, they’ve really gone (unfortunately)!
