Reinforcing and restoring Frisian landscapes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Trees for All is working on making the beautiful Friesland even greener. Along with the Friese Milieufederatie and Landschapsbeheer Friesland, we\u2019re planting a total of 92,000 new trees and shrubs. We\u2019re doing so on the land of private landowners, spread over 48 villages and towns in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s important to plant new trees and shrubs in order to conserve and reinforce the unique Frisian landscapes, and by doing so improve the habitat of numerous plants and animals! Furthermore, this project contributes to a greener agrarian area and to environmentally friendly agriculture.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why is this project in Friesland necessary?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You might have heard of the Forest Strategy, through which the Dutch State and all the Dutch provinces plan to plant 37,000 hectares of forest in the Netherlands within ten years. In the province of Friesland, the focus is on restoring and planting landscape elements, by which we mean the structures in the landscape like rows of trees, alder groves, orchards, hedgerows and copses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trees for All is helping to plant these landscape elements. This is a vital task, as the maintenance of landscape elements has deteriorated in recent years and some elements have even disappeared. This is a great shame, as it leads to the disappearance of unique landscapes that are typical of the region. And numerous plants and animals are deprived of their habitats. Furthermore, landscape elements contribute to environmentally friendly agriculture and healthy living conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plenty of reason, therefore, to breathe new life into the landscapes!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
